Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
